Toastmasters, White Zombies, Stephen Merchant, Robert Frost, the Poverty Rate - Tuesday, September 10, 2019 2:02 PM
Hey guys,
There’s a toastmasters thing on Tuesday nights at Hulu HQ down the street. It’s like a workshop for public speaking and they train you on how to talk in front of a crowd professionally, like giving UN speeches. https://21.toastmastersclubs.org/
I’m not going tonight though because they’re doing a 1930s vintage party and I don’t have the willpower to put on a stereotypical 1930s accent,
“Sweetheart, let’s go downtown and grab one of them soda-pops, ya seeee, maaah.
Look here sweetheart, it’s my tommy gun ya seee; bartender! Give ‘er a Shirley Temple, here’s a nickel, maaah”
Btw,
I found it: http://www.cc.com/video-clips/mkon4c/key-and-peele-white-zombies
And…
An image of the guy from the XFM days (early 2000s, like 2001-03):
"You'll never see an old person eating a Twix”
A poem by Robert Frost about Nature (re: us talking about hiking) -
You come to fetch me from my work to-night When supper's on the table, and we'll see If I can leave off burying the white Soft petals fallen from the apple tree. (Soft petals, yes, but not so barren quite, Mingled with these, smooth bean and wrinkled pea;) And go along with you ere you lose sight Of what you came for and become like me, Slave to a springtime passion for the earth. How Love burns through the Putting in the Seed On through the watching for that early birth When, just as the soil tarnishes with weed, The sturdy seedling with arched body comes Shouldering its way and shedding the earth crumbs.
Look at this dumb headline:
U.S. Census Bureau Reports Poverty Rate Down, But Millions Still Poor

Like ya, no shit, that’s how math works. Like… a drop from 7% to 5% just means 30 million people can’t afford HBO or kale
K bye
